How much to you know about Acne? Pimples aren’t just for teens. You can still get acne well into your 30s, 40s, and beyond. I should know some of my worse Acne was in my late 30’s (that is until I found what worked for me).Just like when you were younger, causes include hormones, stress, and pores clogged by oil, skin cells, and bacteria.

Did you know the #1 reason for Acne is due to excess oil that clogs your pores! Acne is not a sign of poor hygiene. In fact, excessive washing and scrubbing can irritate your skin and make acne worse. And there is no evidence that foods such as french fries, chocolate, or pizza cause breakouts. If your acne is being treated properly, what you eat shouldn't affect your skin.

Excess Scrubbing

Many people with acne feel they should vigorously wash their faces. But this can irritate the skin. Don’t exfoliate irritated skin work around it or you with create more inflammation. Most people, unless they are perspiring heavily after sports or other activities, only need to wash their face twice daily. Skip the scrubs and sudsy soaps, and use a gentle cleanser in the morning and at night instead.

This DOES NOT mean skip the exfoliation. Exfoliation helps keep your pores clear,=!

Popping Pimples

It may be tempting to pop that zit, but don’t. It could lead to a scar or infection, or worsen your breakouts. Acne pustules and papules can extend deep into the skin, and squeezing them can cause long-term redness and a permanent depression in the skin. If you just can’t leave that pimple alone it will be encourage the pimple to heal faster. ( yes I learned this the hard way and yes I talk about my pimp as if they are it’s, aren’t they)

Not Moisturizing

But many people with acne are wary about using moisturizer for fear it will worsen their breakouts. This is another mistake, your skin need the moisture you just need to find one with our unneeded oils,

Changing your Routine Too Soon

Some products claim results overnight, but you shouldn’t believe the hype. A good SkinCare routine is not a 24-hour fix. Your Skin cells renew about every 28 day or 4 weeks, you will need at least this amount of time to see true lasting results. After your complexion clears, you need to continuing your routine to prevent future breakouts. If you are using medicated products for your physician or dermatologist they can tell you when you can stop using acne treatments on your skin.

TIP - Women since adult acne is tied so closely to changes in hormones, you can use those hormones in your favor. Pay attention to your cycle each month – and try to pre-empt your breakouts. For example, if you breakout on your chin each month, use or detoxifying mask and exfoliators every night for a few nights in a row on the areas before you predict a breakout will appear – right when it's still "brewing" under the surface.
